Social Media and It’s Strength

Social media is the main tool for communication. With the advancement of technology social media has reached its zenith. The power of social media has extended to such an extent that people from all over the world can able to communicate with each other and share their ideas and views. We have seen the strength of social media in declining the Egyptian’s thirty years long autocratic President Mr. Hosni Mubarak. People from different parts of Egypt had gathered and showed their protest against him. This mass gathering of the civilians has been done by the help of the social media. There are many social networking sites that play a major role in this aspect.

Television, radio, internet and newspapers are some of the important instances of the social media. Social media plays a very important role in sharing knowledge, education and news etc. the different types of social media are discussed below:

• Television: This is a very important medium that informs people on various aspects. The news channels help the common man to know about the daily occurrences in various parts of the world. A person will be a novice who does not follow the news that is showing in the television. The audio visual effects of the television is quite influencing to the mind of common man. Another important thing that television plays a major role is in advertisement. If any company wants to launch it new product or wants to make the people acquainted with its product then television is the number one media. It also helps in making people accustomed with the new schemes and policies made by the government.

• Radio: This is also a very important media. There are many places in the world where electricity is not there still now; radio plays a crucial role as a social medium in those places. People would have been in dark about the present situations of his surrounding and the result of the world if radio was not there. We know that radio is operated by the dry cells so it does not need any electricity. Again radio is comparatively quite cheap. So many poor people can afford it. Many illiterate people are there who can read. In that case radio is the perfect one.

• News paper: The most circulated social media. It is the cheapest of all media and can easily be available. It makes the people in getting information on politics, economics, social conditions, science, culture and an various other topics. It makes people aware of the condition of his country and the rest of the world.

• Internet: The most modern and advanced social media. It plays the role of newspaper, radio and television altogether. In the internet we can read the newspapers, watch the news channels and different commercial channels by streaming the videos from the company’s site or any other registered sites. There are many social networking sites that reunite old friends, make new friends, share photos and videos, and chat and so on.
